In the early 1950’s, a young Sicilian entrepreneur with an American dream decided to pursue his desire to start his own business. Beginning in Ellis Island, NY, and working his way west, he perfected a family recipe for the perfect New York style pizza. This first generation man, Salvatore Oliveri, his wife and six children, created a unique family recipe. His daughter, Elena Coco, her husband Vince together with Vinnie Jr. and entire Coco family are now contributing to this family recipe from Palermo to New York to California and now here in the Northwest. We here at Vinnie’s Pizza pledge to continue this family tradition and continue to add the flavors of our past influences and future indulgences.
Trinacria is both an alternative name for Sicily and its national symbol (an ancient form of the Triskelion) which also appears on its flag. The Medusa in the center implies the protection of the Goddess Athena, the Patron Goddess of the Isle. In early mythology, Medusa was the destructive aspect of Athena, later, a monster slain by the hero Perseus, who adorned Athena’s shield.
